The construction of a series of streetscape and security improvements in the area surrounding the New York Stock Exchange was completed in 2009. The work done is to make the area more secure and attractive, following security measures put in place since 9/11.
The streetscape project capitalized on an overly wide section of Broad Street, transforming it into a raised pedestrian plaza used for outdoor dining, seating, and public events.
”The improvements not only improve security, but make the district a more pleasant destination for visitors, workers, and residents.
What visitors now see is “euro-cobble” paving along Broad and Wall Streets, upgraded architectural security devices surrounding the district that have state-of-the-art “turntable” barriers with unique bronze “no-go” bollards. What the visitors do not see is that these turntables have underground heating using electrical heat tracing cables to insure that they will operate in cold weather conditions. The control strategy used to monitor and control the heating cables are Nextron TraceMate Series Controllers. This project was implemented by our friends at AEF Sales Engineering.
